A Birthday Surprise in Kyoto: Matcha, Memories, and More!

Indian Couple Experiences Tea Ceremony and Celebrates in Japan

Sameer surprised his wife Pranavi with a trip to Japan for her birthday. What a kind and thoughtful husband he is! Her birthday is on March 26th, and they visited our Komurasaki An one day later. The two of them are from India and had never had matcha before, so I was a little worried if they would enjoy the tea ceremony workshop.

This time, I also took pictures of them washing their hands in the stone basin. I wanted to take as many pictures of the two of them as possible so that they would have good memories of the tea ceremony.

Naoko and I were both very happy when we heard them say “delicious!” after drinking the matcha they had made themselves.

While I was making the certificate of completion for the tea ceremony workshop at Komurasaki An, which included photos of the two of them, I had them wait in the Western-style room. And then, surprise! We presented Pranavi with a birthday cake. She was very happy, and I think she must have felt very special to celebrate her birthday one day late in Japan.
