It was a heartwarming reunion after two years. My students are my pride and joy.
Seiya and Mayuka were two of my students during my time teaching English at the high school.
It was like yesterday these two eager teenagers were peppering me with English questions, always seeking my help with their studies. Now, they are successful graduates at 25. Mayuka thrives in the fast-paced world of IT in Tokyo, while Seiya, a dynamic entrepreneur, bridges the gap between social media and companies, shuttling between Kyoto and Tokyo.
Today, they participated in a tea ceremony experience, reminiscing fondly about their high school days when they had first tried tea ceremonies in class. Over a sukiyaki dinner, we discussed eagerly their high school memories, current jobs, and future aspirations. We parted ways after 6 pm, the evening shadows stretching long. When will I see these inspiring young adults again? As they faded into the dusk, I knew their journeys were just beginning, and I couldn’t wait to see what the future held for them.
