Lithuania to Japan: A Bridge of Love
“‘What kind of country is yours?’ Neringa smiled and replied, ‘Although not as much as Japan, it’s a country with a long history and beautiful nature.’ She added, ‘We grow a lot of potatoes, and we’re also very good at basketball!’
Today’s guests are Arminas and Neringa from Lithuania.
This is the first time I’ve had guests from Lithuania. I looked it up online. ‘Lithuania is a beautiful country located in northeastern Europe on the coast of the Baltic Sea. It is known for its rich nature and historic towns, and in recent years it has joined the EU and NATO and has been engaged in active economic activities.’ Having never visited Europe, I was strongly drawn to the idea of strolling leisurely around the area with my wife, Naoko, someday, looking at the historic buildings and streets.
Arminas is visiting Japan for the first time. He works as a lawyer at a law firm in Lithuania. He traveled a long distance of 8,000 kilometers all the way from Lithuania to meet Neringa, who is staying in Tokyo. I can feel the depth of their love.
Neringa is currently a student studying international relations at Waseda University. Her Japanese is also excellent. She hasn’t decided on her future yet, but I hope she enjoys her university life in Tokyo to the fullest.”
Two countries, 8,000 kilometers apart, were connected by a ticket that showed Arminas’ strong desire. He came to Japan to be with his girlfriend, Neringa. Kyoto, a city with old traditions and new wonders, offered them many chances to make new memories. They will have fun at Monkey Park, enjoy the peaceful bamboo forests, and see the beautiful Imperial Palace. Their trip will be full of amazing things. Osaka, with its busy Dotonbori, big Osaka Castle, and exciting Universal Studios, will promise to make their trip even better.
Thinking about our own trip to the United States 40 years ago, my wife, Naoko, and I hoped that Arminas and Neringa would have a great time on this trip too. After being married for 40 years, we know how important love is. We can only wish that the smile of Neringa reflected in Arminas’ eyes will last forever.
Dear Aki & Naoko,
Thank you, all the photos reached us successfully, there are no missing ones. They are beautiful shots of the ceremony, thank you very much for taking them.
We wanted to thank you for an amazing experience, for inviting us to your extremely lovely home and sharing with us the secrets of the tea ceremony. Neringa and I both agree that it was a highlight of our visit to Kyoto and we can’t wait to be able to visit again in the (hopefully near) future.
Thank you once again and we wish you the best of luck!
Warm wishes,
Arminas & Neringa
